Ciao! Giorno 2

Here is the finished drawing for the still life. It took me awhile to get that ellipse :) Next, the drawing gets transferred to the canvas that we prepared with a campitura, value 4, of burnt umber and cremnitz white. In a previous workshop, we used raw umber but this combination will be warmer and redder.

It has begun…

Two 4×8 foot panels mounted onto three 8 foot wood brackets has created a perfectly flat painting surface for my canvas. This next painting will take the entire summer and it will be approximately 9×7 feet. The transfer of the drawing will begin in the next 24hrs. No more excuses now :)

News: Shelburne Museum Packs An Emotional Punch

Here is blurb from the article in the Burlington Free Press.

• “Circus Day in America” — The museum’s Circus Building, known for its miniature circus and circus-parade collections, will augment those displays with posters, photographs and other artifacts culled from the golden age of circuses in America, from 1870 to 1950. The entrance to the building has been adorned with a 17-by-40-foot panel of 13 sideshow banners created by Burlington artist Toni-Lee Sangastiano.

GET A ROOM.

The “Study of Wonder” was donated to help support this year’s event. I attended the opening night benefit and the painting was auctioned off.

Here is some info from the brochure:

GET A ROOM.

This year’s event will support the development of Housing Works’ 874 Jefferson Avenue Residence Project consisting of 12 permanent units of supportive housing for single, formerly homeless adults living with HIV/AIDS. The project will consist of a substantial renovation of a three-story brick building in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

Made it! Getting my freak on in Boston…

The line to get in reminded me of my clubbing days in NYC :-) I definitely have a bunch of favorite pieces. I would like to own the jersey devil piece ;-)

We are half through the reception sponsored by Harpoon.
